The following learning games were created using Studymate. Studymate was extremely intuitive and by not deselecting the types of games I wanted to create I was provided with all the games using the types of questions I entered. Plethora of podcast topics!

It was great to see the gambit of diverse topics podcasted on podcast.com. Even when I limited my search to education I still had a multitude of podcasts to choose from. Of the podcasts that I listened to, the ones that I appreciated the most included a sort of verbal table of contents. I think that one of the most important design tools for me besides an interesting topic is an introduction. The four things that I think a good podcast needs are: an interesting topic, an introduction, steady and clear speech, and a summary or closing. One of the podcasts that I listened to was about 8 minutes and I appreciated the way the narrator would briefly mention what would happen next, creating a segue between the points being made.

Audio recording using Gabcast...

Why people don't use sound files when they're teaching...

Including sound files in conjunction with instruction demands time and a level of "techyness" that many instructors don't have. First, a recording tool is required (Audacity), then a host for the MP3 file (Podbean), and then the file has to be posted. While all of the above mentioned Internet tools are at no cost the investment of time and know how can be prohibitive.

First Online Course Learning Experiences...

I can build a course, I can copy a course, I can create a test and I can launch it, but now I am on the other side of the course, taking it. In a matter of days I've learned how to use HTML, build my own blog, and I've learned to slow down and read and follow instructions! I usually jump in and figure things out on my own but when it came to building a blog I have had to backtrack because I did not follow the instructions.

In just two short weeks not only have I gotten my feet wet but I feel soaked to the knees! This process will greatly improve my interaction with distance learning students both in my distance learning orientations and course navigation. Viva Distance Learning!
